Professional headshot?

As an actor, headshots are crucial. Even if you're not asked to bring a headshot, always have one on hand just in case. Your headshot gives people an idea of who you are before they meet you and helps casting directors remember different actors.

I recommend getting a professional headshot, but these are usually pricey. If you have a good-quality camera, try taking your own! Honestly, I haven't gotten a professional headshot in a while. I did it once a few years ago, but now I look totally different from when I was 12... I personally don't think it's necessary to get headshots as a kid because since you're still growing, you constantly have to get them redone (which is somewhat costly). It's easier in your late teens or older because then you'll probably look the same for a while!! :)

Remember that your headshot displays your professionalism, so make it look as high-quality as possible. This goes beyond whether you're getting it taken by a pro or a friend. Your headshot has to reflect your true self, so when taking it, don't look like someone you're not. You have full control over this.

Play around with different facial expressions if you have the time! Don't go too over the top, but you might surprise yourself. It's important to stand out and really put yourself out there.

Choose what you wear wisely. Of course you want to showcase your personality, but don't get crazy. Eyes need to be drawn to your face first, not the crazy pattern on your shirt! Try to avoid white and other light colors, because it'll appear very bright in the photo. Mid/dark colors are best. Keep your makeup pretty natural, because bright colors will most likely be distracting.

At the end of the day, wear what you feel most confident in, because that self-assurance will shine through to the end result!
